General Insurance
General Insurance is a contract under which various risks converges are provided
to the property of any institution after receiving annual premium from the institutions.
It is different from Life Insurance where life of a person is insured.
In Rajasthan, general insurance job is being carried out by State Insurance and
Provident Fund Department since 1991. SIPF Department Is authorised to provide general
insurance services by the Government of India vide Reg. No. 572 dated 26-05-1992.
The fund will act as an insurer for all government departments, corporations, Statutory
Bodies, Co-operative Sectors etc...
At present general insurance business is completely non-tariff business. Under non-tariff
business the premium and the terms and conditions of the policy are decided by the
insurance organisation according to the nature and size of the business.
