Background Information
The scheme was optional for all the government employees and for all those employees
who were found unfit to join insurance scheme, were given an option this scheme
from 1-Jan-1954.
The Provident Fund Scheme has been introduced with the aim to develop saving habit
among the employees of the State Government and to use the accumulation after the
retirement of the employee, when he/she does not have any regular income.
From 1-Apr-1979, the Voluntary Provident Fund Scheme was transferred to the department
from Accountant General, Rajasthan.
From 1-May-1980 the scheme was made compulsory on all the government employees and
the employees of Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samities.
After new pension scheme was launched in 2004 , The scheme ceased to be applicable
on the employees who are appointed on or after 1-Jan-2004.
